As much as I loved Jerry, I hate to say this. There may have been a chance that he didn't want to play some of the more obscure and/or difficult songs when he was around. Wallowing deeply in his addiction(s) and health issues by the late 80's and into the early 90's, he may have just wanted to keep to what he remembered and possibly felt was easiest to play.
